if you follow me on twitter you will know that i purchased two items of furniture yesterday.
here is item number one:

i bought this cute bench at a local thrift store.
it was $25, which is not an outstanding deal, but with a can of miss tinted paint for $1, that only made this baby $26!




i decided to paint it this mustardy yellow
(thank goodness they had this color at the store),
to match the yellow thats in my bedspread.
i want place this beaut at the foot of the bed,
maybe find some better books to keep on it.
but i love it! what do you think?

another video

my dad absolutely hates raking the leaves.
especially since we have a forest in our backyard.
so i thought i would take this boring job, and make it FUN.
this time i used an actual video camera, and my computer to film through the window.
notice the chair reflection. that was my lil bro. thanks austy ;)

the green basket

the title of my blog is in fact THE GREEN BASKET,

and as you can see my bike does not have a such a thing.
today, i purchased one.
the whole reason i named my blog the bike with the green basket is because i saw this...

and knew it had to be mine.
i first saw this basket in a magazine,
but it was just a photo, not an ad.
after lots and lots of searching online i found one for an awesome deal.
{with shipping most sites are charging $100 for this beaut}
so soon this will be displayed proudly on my bike.
i cannot wait!

a lovely fall bike ride

lately, because of the ugly snow and rain, i felt like i haven't been giving my bike much attention. so today i took her on a fun little ride. mainly to pass the time before the mail comes, i'm awaiting a rather large check :)

i live smack dab in the middle of a hill and so i could either go down the hill, but then i would have to eventually climb that monsterous beast. or i could go up the hill and then cruise down after.
i chose the second option. but instead of riding straight up wasatch i took the neighborhood route. the hills aren't as steep. but don't get me wrong, climbing hills on a bike that has only one gear... not so easy. but i did it! all the way up! i chose such a warm day to go, so cruising down the hill was a joy.


this time of year is perfect for a bike ride though. and i live in such a beautiful area, it was fun riding toward the huge gorgeous mountains. and riding down tree lined streets that have gathered the fallen leaves. i love riding over the leaves and hearing them crunch!
and i love fall! the weather lately has been perfect. i don't want it to end.

new hobby

lately i have been obsessed with buying crappy furniture {that has potential of being cute} or decor items and wanting to fix them up.
i'm on craigslist and ksl at least 3 times a day looking for my next victim.
i also make a weekly trip to the fabulous DI.
so far i have raked in a free and rather adorable desk, a cute bench, a chair, some picture frames, and these cute shelves. the shelves are the only thing i have fixed up because i have to wait until i move into a new place to know what color to paint them.

but i'm a nerd and forgot to take a before picture of these, so here is the after...

these were $6 each at the DI.
they started out as an ugly brown wood color so i bought some miss tinted white paint for only $3, i figured you can't ever go wrong with white for shelves.

so stay tuned for more of my new found hobby projects.
and if anyone ever has any leads on anything cute, or wants to come with me to garage sales, thrift, or consignment stores let me know!

alpine coaster fun

this is my first attempt at making a little video.
i took these photos for fun, not with the mind set of making a video out of them.
otherwise it would have turned out a lot better!

my life consists of editing

i just realized how many pictures i have open in my photoshop...



i spent an amazing weekend in california with my friend trista and her fam!
her lil sis got married, and they asked me to come shoot the reception in santa barbara.
how could i say no to that?
the weather was perfect, and i had so much fun helping with all of the wedding details.
i got so excited to see the pictures i took of the gorgeous couple so i went through and kept wanting to edit more and more.
and then the other pictures on here are from my mom and aunts fun birthday bash in park city.
we got to go down this new ride up there called the alpine coaster.
i decided to make a video, and i really love the way its turning out so far!
so hopefully i will post that soon!!

but today i was pondering... i decided i wanted to make a video.
my cute little neighbor makes these amazing videos and it makes
me want to join the fun! i'll have to show you hers sometime soon.
but this little french music video is my favorite.
i just need a cute boy to come join me and we can reenact this video.

hooray!

a finally have a new blog.
today i purchased an adorable white bike.
i know i have claimed i was going to buy a yellow bike, but there are none out there.
and when i saw this bike, i knew it was meant to be mine.
she is very old, made in the 40s or so,
and has bits of red paint poking through which i find charming.
she is perfect.
the only thing is that she needs a splash of color somewhere.
so i found thee perfect green basket, although its mighty pricey
one day it will be snuggled up on the front of my bike.
when that day will be?
i hope soon. but no one knows for sure.

i can't wait to ride her around salt lake, going to markets, or bookstores.
oh if you haven't heard already...
i'm not moving to california just yet.
sad news for me. happy news for you!
me and one of my besties are going to get our own place and
move to sugarhouse or the avenues.
can't wait!

but enjoy my new blog.
i know i sure will :)
and i will post a picture of my bike tomorrow.
we are going on a photoshoot!

caution: bees will sting if you smother them

yes this is me. i was a bee last year for halloween.

let me tell you a story about the first time i got stung by a bee...
Back when i was about six, i was going to go with my mom to take my aunt home. i decided to wait for them in the car. i sat down and heard a funny buzzing sound. i sat up to find a bee had been under my tush! luckily it did not sting my bum, it just stung my knee instead.
its funny because i can remember this day so clearly.
and i remember tanner's first bee sting, and karli's. not sure why.

let me tell you another story...
about three days ago i went to the draper pool with my mom, lil sis, and a bunch of little kids. Everyone was in the pool yelling for me to come in. i went to get in the pool and debated on whether i should take the stairs, or jump in. i guess i decided to do a combo, and i used the metal rail on the stairs as a guide to help me jump into the pool. after i jumped in my thumb killed. it felt like the bar shocked me or something. then lil sis told me there had been a bee on the bar...
and yes it stung me.

i have bad luck with smothering bees i guess. and i am going to be more careful about where i sit, or place my hands now. haha stupid bees.

19 on the 19th

I had to wish my gorgeous of a cousin a happy birthday today!

she just turned the big one nine!
I love having a cousin so close to me in age
we've been best of friends since the moment she was born!
I seriously hope you have the best birthday ever kars, because you of all people deserve one!
You are such a fun, hilarious, sweet, and loving girl. I admire you :)
